Sevilla sits in the mountains of Valle del Cauca, on the western slopes of Colombia's Central Cordillera, high above the Cauca River valley. It is coffee country, and the town is often called the balcony of the Valle for its views over the lowlands below. On a map, the setting is obvious from the terrain.
The central streets keep to a fairly regular grid laid over a ridge, a common pattern for towns founded in the Andean coffee region. Around that core, the geometry gives way to roads that twist down steep slopes and follow contour lines through farms and ravines toward neighbouring towns.
