Split Map Poster
Split occupies a short peninsula on the Adriatic, and the map shows it clearly. The harbour sits on the south side, a busy ferry port lies to the east, and Marjan hill covers the western end with forest and walking paths. The city fills the rest of the peninsula and spreads inland toward the mountains.
At the centre is Diocletian's Palace, built for the Roman emperor around the turn of the fourth century. Its outline still shapes the old town, and people have lived inside its walls for centuries. In front of it, the Riva promenade follows the harbour, and ferries leave for Brač, Hvar and the other islands.
A Split map poster places a very dense historic centre against wide open water and the calm green mass of Marjan. The rectangular footprint of the palace is visible within the maze of the old town, a rare case where a Roman plan can still be read on a modern map.

Marjan hill
The forested hill occupies the western tip of the peninsula. On the map it is a large, quiet space crossed only by paths and a few roads.
Harbour and Riva
The Riva promenade runs along the southern harbour in front of the palace. Nearby, ferry piers reach into the bay toward the Dalmatian islands.
