Taverny Map Poster & Print
Taverny is in the Val-d'Oise, north of Paris, on the southwest edge of the Forest of Montmorency. The town rises from the valley floor up toward the wooded ridge, so it has a clear gradient: dense streets along the lower slopes and forest on the high ground.
Its best-known building is the church of Notre-Dame, a Gothic church from the thirteenth century that sits on the hillside above the old village streets. For decades the town was also home to an air base that included an underground command post built into the hill during the Cold War.
