Tchamba Map Poster
Tchamba is the seat of Tchamba prefecture in the Centrale region of Togo, east of Sokodé and not far from the border with Benin. The land here is savanna and scattered woodland, and the town grows across it without tight constraints: roads radiate from a modest centre, compounds and houses fill the spaces between them, and the pattern loosens steadily toward the edges.
On a black-and-white map this gives a light, open composition. There are few large blocks; instead the drawing is made of thin lines, junctions and irregular plots, with tracks leading out to farming villages. It is the kind of place whose plan records daily movement more than grand design, the paths people actually take to market, to the fields and to neighbouring towns.
