Tecate Map Poster
Tecate sits in a valley in the mountains east of Tijuana, directly on the border with the United States. From above, its most defining line is the international boundary running along the northern edge of town, straight and unbending, while the street grid below it adapts to rolling ground, creek beds and the rocky hills that close in on every side.
The town is widely known for the beer that carries its name, brewed here since the 1940s, and for its designation as one of Mexico's Pueblos Mágicos. Nearby rises the peak known as Cuchumá, sacred to the Kumeyaay people whose lands span both sides of the border. Around the central Parque Hidalgo, the older blocks keep a relaxed, small-town scale.
