Tepecik is a neighbourhood in the Büyükçekmece district, on the western outskirts of Istanbul where the city meets the Sea of Marmara and the open Thracian countryside. Its name, meaning small hill, fits the terrain: streets climb and fall over gentle rises, and newer apartment blocks sit on land that was fields not long ago.
On the map, the neighbourhood combines older, irregular lanes with the rectangular plots of recent housing developments. Büyükçekmece Lake lies nearby, a broad body of water close to the coast, and major motorways carry traffic from central Istanbul westward toward Edirne and the Balkans.
