Tevāram is a town in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu, located in the fertile valley land at the foot of the Western Ghats, near the border with Kerala. The mountains rise steeply to the west, and the flat land below is farmed intensively, with fields, orchards and irrigation channels covering much of the area around the town.
The town's centre is compact, with streets gathered around a few main roads and a market area. From this core, roads lead out across the fields toward neighbouring towns and toward the hills. Tanks and irrigation canals, an important feature of Tamil Nadu farming landscapes, appear as scattered shapes and lines among the fields.
