Tianjia is a town in the western part of Chongqing Municipality, in the hilly country that lies between the Sichuan Basin and the city of Chongqing. The land here rises and falls in low hills, and from above the town appears as a compact cluster of streets surrounded by fields and scattered villages.
The roads leading out of Tianjia bend around the slopes rather than running straight, and small reservoirs and ponds dot the farmland. The overall pattern is one of a market town at the centre of a rural district, with connections radiating toward neighbouring settlements.
