Timbaúba is a town in the Zona da Mata Norte of Pernambuco, the coastal hinterland long associated with sugarcane. The landscape around it is gently rolling, and fields and small roads cover most of the surrounding land. The town appears on the map as a compact, clearly defined cluster of streets.
The centre is densely built, with irregular blocks that follow the terrain instead of a strict grid. Roads leave town toward neighbouring municipalities and toward the Paraíba border to the north. Small streams cut across the countryside, adding thin lines to the open space around the built-up area.
