Troitsk Map Poster & Print
Troitsk lies in the south of Chelyabinsk Oblast, close to the border with Kazakhstan, where the Uvelka flows into the Uy. The two rivers frame the town on the map, their winding courses and oxbows cutting through flat steppe, while the streets fill the land between and around them in a largely regular pattern.
The town was founded in 1743 as a fortress on the defensive line along the Uy, and it grew into one of the main trading points between Russia and Central Asia, with a large fair and caravan trade. The old merchant centre still shows that planning in its straight streets and rectangular blocks.
Industry arrived later, most visibly the large coal-fired Troitsk power station on the outskirts. A Troitsk map poster sets all of this in clean lines: the meeting of two rivers, the orderly merchant grid and the open steppe that stretches away beyond the last streets in every direction.
