Eiffel Bridge
The nineteenth-century railway bridge over the Prut forms a short, precise line between two countries, one of the most meaningful details in the whole composition.

Ungheni Map Poster & Print
Ungheni lies in western Moldova on the left bank of the Prut, the river that forms the border with Romania. Across the water is a Romanian village of the same name, and the two are linked by a railway bridge, making the town one of the main rail gateways between the two countries.
The bridge, built in the 1870s, is often associated with the workshops of Gustave Eiffel and is known locally as the Eiffel Bridge. Around the station, tracks of two different gauges meet, a reminder of the break between the European and former Russian railway systems that has long defined the town's role.
On the map the town spreads east from the river onto rising ground, with a grid of streets near the centre, larger post-war residential blocks, and green spaces along the water. An Ungheni map poster shows a small town whose shape is set by a river, a border and a railway line.

Prut river
The river meanders along the western edge of town in wide loops, its floodplain and old channels drawing a soft natural boundary.
Rail yards
Broad bands of track fan out around the station, where trains change between gauges, creating a strong linear feature through the town.
