Usa River lies east of Arusha in northern Tanzania, on the main road that runs toward Moshi and Kilimanjaro. It sits on the lower flank of Mount Meru, where the land slopes gently toward the plains, and its map is organised around that single highway, with side roads leaving it at intervals toward farms, homes and lodges.
The country between Arusha and Kilimanjaro has long been used for coffee and other crops, and larger estates still show as broad parcels between smaller settlements. On paper this produces a clear pattern: one strong east–west line, a looser network of lanes on either side, and stream valleys running down from the mountain.
