Versmold is a town in the Gütersloh district of North Rhine-Westphalia, in north-western Germany, close to the border with Lower Saxony. It lies on level country south-west of the Teutoburg Forest, and its map is organised around a compact historic centre with roads leading out in several directions toward villages and farmland.
The town is known regionally for its meat processing industry, which grew from local farming traditions into a significant employer, and several food producers are based here. That activity shows on the map as larger industrial parcels on the edge of town, set apart from the smaller-scale streets of the centre and the residential districts.
Beyond the built-up area the landscape opens into fields, hedgerows and scattered farmsteads, crossed by small streams.
