Vicenza Map Poster & Print
Vicenza lies in the Veneto between Verona and Padua, at the foot of the Berici Hills. Its historic centre is compact and irregular, bounded by the Bacchiglione and Retrone rivers, which meet at the edge of the old town. On a map, the old streets form a tight oval, with the long main axis of Corso Palladio running through it.
The city is closely identified with the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. His Basilica Palladiana dominates Piazza dei Signori, and his Teatro Olimpico, with its famous stage set of receding streets, stands at the end of the Corso. The city and the Palladian villas of the Veneto are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
