Villepinte is a commune in Seine-Saint-Denis, northeast of Paris, on the flat plain that leads toward Charles de Gaulle airport. Its layout combines an old village core, neighbourhoods of detached houses, larger housing estates from the postwar decades and wide transport corridors. The RER B line crosses the commune, and major roads connect it with Paris and the airport.
The commune is known well beyond the region for Paris Nord Villepinte, one of the largest exhibition centres in France, which hosts major trade fairs throughout the year. Villepinte also shares the Parc départemental du Sausset with Aulnay-sous-Bois, a large green space of woods, meadows and ponds that forms a welcome break in the dense suburban fabric.
