Warwick is the county town of Warwickshire, set on the River Avon in the English Midlands. It is best known for Warwick Castle, a medieval fortress built on the site of an earlier Norman castle, whose walls and grounds occupy a long stretch of the riverbank on the southern side of the town.
After a great fire in 1694 destroyed much of the centre, the town was rebuilt, so the core now combines medieval survivals, such as the Lord Leycester Hospital beside the West Gate, with later streets. On the map the old centre is compact, with a few main roads meeting near the church of St Mary, whose tower is a landmark visible from far around.
A Warwick map poster shows how closely the town and castle sit together. The Avon curves past the castle grounds, the Grand Union Canal runs to the north, and the historic centre forms a tight cluster of streets between them. In black and white the layout is clear and quietly handsome.

The old centre is small and dense, with main streets converging near St Mary's Church, whose tower rises above the rooftops of the rebuilt town.

To the north the Grand Union Canal passes through Warwick, forming a thin line with locks and bridges that adds another layer to the town's map.
