Waterloo Map Poster & Print
Waterloo lies on the Cedar River in northeast Iowa. The river is the defining line on its map. It runs from northwest to southeast through the city and splits it into two halves that have long had separate identities. On each bank the streets form a grid, but the two grids are set at different angles, so they meet the river and each other slightly out of line. Around them the land opens into flat, squared-off farmland.
The city grew as an industrial centre. Tractor manufacturing, which later came under John Deere, became a major employer, and Deere still operates large works in the area. Waterloo forms a metropolitan pair with Cedar Falls, which lies immediately to the west along the same river.
A Waterloo map poster shows the downtown bridges gathered where the two grids come together, and the river's wooded bends above and below the centre. The highways ringing the city trace a looser outline. In the countryside beyond, section roads cut the land into perfect squares. That contrast between the river's curves and the survey grid is typical of the Iowa landscape.

Offset street grids
The neighbourhoods on each bank were platted separately, so the blocks sit at slightly different angles. From above the city looks gently misaligned.
Section-line farmland
Beyond the city edge, rural roads follow the one-mile survey grid, making a regular chequerboard that frames the urban area on every side.

Waterlooを選ぶ理由
想いが詰まった地図
Waterloo is a meaningful map for families with roots in the Cedar Valley, former Deere workers, and anyone who crossed its bridges every day. The river gives the design a clear focus, and it reads well at any of the six sizes.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with a street address or a move-in date, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. It is available as instant HD files or as a matte print.
