West Molesey lies on the south bank of the River Thames in Surrey, opposite Hampton and just west of East Molesey. The river curves along its northern edge, with islands and moorings along the bank. Its map is defined by water on almost every side, some of it natural and some engineered.
To the south and west, large reservoirs cover a big share of the surrounding land, their straight embankments and geometric outlines standing out clearly among the residential streets. Between the river and the reservoirs, streets of semi-detached and terraced houses fill the space in a fairly regular pattern.
Along the Thames lies Hurst Park, once the site of a racecourse and now housing and open riverside space. Moulsey Hurst nearby has a place in the early history of cricket and golf. A West Molesey map poster shows a quiet suburb shaped by the curve of the river and the geometry of its reservoirs.
