West Springfield is a community in Fairfax County, Virginia, southwest of Washington, D.C. On a map it looks like a classic American suburb from the 1960s and 1970s. Curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs branch off a few main roads, including Old Keene Mill Road and Rolling Road, and each neighbourhood forms its own compact cluster.
Between the neighbourhoods, narrow green corridors follow the stream valleys, where parks and trails run through the woods. To the east lies the Springfield interchange, where Interstates 95, 395 and 495 meet. It is one of the best known road junctions in the region. Its large curves are close enough to appear at the edge of a wider map.
