The land here has been farmed for a very long time, and from above it appears as a regular patchwork of fields crossed by straight roads and irrigation channels. The town forms a compact built area at the point where several of these routes meet.
With no hills or coastline, the shape of the place comes from roads, field boundaries and the layout of the settlements themselves.
