Yepocapa sits on the mountainous southern side of Chimaltenango, on terrain shaped by the volcanoes of central Guatemala. On a map the town reads as a small grid pressed onto a slope. Streets bend where the ground falls away, and ravines cut through the surrounding land like dark creases.
The Volcán de Fuego, one of the most active volcanoes in Central America, rises close by, and ash from its eruptions has fallen over the municipality more than once. Volcanic soil on these hillsides supports coffee farming, and the land around the town is a patchwork of plots and paths more than an open plain.
A Yepocapa map poster captures a place where the land decides the layout. The central streets try for order. Beyond them, roads wind to follow contours and stream beds. The contrast works well in black and white, where every bend shows how steep the ground is.

Deep drainage channels run down from the volcanic heights and cut across the surrounding land. On the map they appear as sharp lines winding downhill.
