Suburban street grid
The residential core is laid out in regular blocks, a dense and even pattern of short streets that prints as a fine, consistent texture at the heart of the poster.

Randfontein Map Poster & Print
Randfontein grew up on the western arm of the Witwatersrand gold reef in the late nineteenth century, and the map still shows that origin. Its residential streets form orderly blocks, while the edges give way to larger, irregular parcels of land shaped by mining, rail sidings and industry. From above, the town looks less like one centre than a set of districts that grew around the work that supported them.
In black and white, the contrast between planned and worked ground stands out. The fine mesh of suburban roads gives the page texture, and the broad empty patches around it, left by former mine sites and open grassland, give it room to breathe. Railway lines add long, gently curving strokes that cut across the grid in a way ordinary streets never would.
A Randfontein map poster fits people with ties to the West Rand: families who worked the mines, people who grew up in its suburbs, or anyone who has driven the roads between here and Krugersdorp. The town is now part of the Rand West City municipality, but on paper it keeps the shape it has always had, a compact grid set against wide Highveld space.

Mining landscape
Around the town, former gold mining land shows up as large, irregular open areas with few roads, a clear record of the industry that founded Randfontein on the western Witwatersrand.
Rail corridors
Railway lines run through and around the town in long, smooth curves, giving the composition strong directional strokes that contrast with the right angles of the street grid.

რატომ Randfontein
რუკა, რომელსაც მნიშვნელობა აქვს
For many people, Randfontein means a first home, a family history in the mines, or a childhood on the West Rand. A map keeps that connection understated. It shows the streets and open ground as they are, without postcards or slogans, and it sits easily in a hallway, a study or a living room.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name, a year or a street you remember. Choose from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9, or order a printed poster on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
