Manfredonia faces the Adriatic on the gulf that shares its name, at the southern foot of the Gargano promontory in Apulia. From above, the old town is a remarkably regular grid of parallel streets that runs down to the sea. The harbour and long piers extend into the water, and the coastline curves away to the south along flat, open shores.
The town was founded in the thirteenth century by King Manfred of Sicily, son of Frederick II, as a new port to replace nearby Siponto. That deliberate planning explains its orderly layout. The castle, begun under the Swabians and extended under the Angevins, still guards the edge of the old town near the harbour.
A Manfredonia map poster captures a rare thing, a medieval town laid out with a ruler and still clearly readable today. The grid, the harbour and the long bay combine into a composition that feels both historical and modern. The hills of the Gargano on the northern edge add a sense of height beyond the frame.
Straight, parallel streets cross the historic centre in a pattern planned in the thirteenth century. It is among the most orderly old-town layouts in southern Italy.
The port reaches out into the gulf with long piers and breakwaters. They draw firm geometric lines against the open water.
South of the town the shore bends in a wide, gentle curve along the Gulf of Manfredonia. It gives the poster a strong natural edge.

The map suits anyone who has spent summers on the Gargano, or has family roots in Apulia. The planned grid and the sea give it a clarity that works on any wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or the year of a holiday, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
