Chaksawari lies in the Mirpur district of Azad Kashmir, in rolling country between the Punjab plains and the higher hills to the north. On the map it shows as a tight knot of streets where several roads meet. The built-up area spreads outward along those roads rather than in any regular pattern, so the town's outline looks more like a branching shape than a block.
Ravines and seasonal streams break up the ground around the town, and the roads curve to follow them.
