River confluence
The Essonne joins the Seine near the town centre, where the two rivers form a clear meeting point. This is the natural heart of the composition and the reason the town exists.

Corbeil-Essonnes Map Poster & Print
Corbeil-Essonnes lies south of Paris in the Essonne department, where the Essonne river flows into the Seine. The town was formed in 1951 by merging two communes, Corbeil and Essonnes, and on the map that double origin is still visible. The two rivers meet near the centre, and the streets of the old quarters gather on both sides of the confluence.
Water has shaped the town for centuries. The Seine and the Essonne powered mills here, and the Grands Moulins de Corbeil, a major flour-milling complex on the Seine, remain a landmark. The church of Saint-Spire, with its medieval tower, stands in the historic centre. Bridges link the two banks of the Seine, and the railway follows the river valley toward Paris.
A Corbeil-Essonnes map poster centres on that meeting of rivers. The broad curve of the Seine and the narrower, winding Essonne divide the town into distinct parts, while bridges, rail lines and roads stitch them back together. In black and white the rivers become strong, flowing shapes, giving the poster a clear structure and a sense of place rooted in water.

Seine and its mills
The Seine sweeps through the town, lined with the industrial buildings of the Grands Moulins. Bridges cross it at intervals, adding sharp lines to its broad curve.
Old town centres
The historic quarters of the two former communes sit on either side of the rivers, their narrow, irregular streets forming the densest part of the map.
