Kisesa lies a short drive east of Mwanza, along the main road that leads out of the city and around the lake. From above, the town looks like a spine with branches. One strong arterial line carries most of the traffic, and a loose web of smaller tracks reaches out from it into fields and scattered homesteads. The pattern is informal and follows the terrain, not a planned grid.
The country around Mwanza is known for its granite boulders and rounded rocky hills, and they leave clear marks on a street map.
