Contour-following lanes
In the older quarters, streets bend with the slope rather than cutting across it, so the upper town appears as a series of curved, closely packed lines.

Koysinceq Map Poster & Print
Koysinceq, also known as Koya, sits on the lower slopes of a mountain ridge in the Erbil region of Iraqi Kurdistan. On a map the town reads as a tilted fabric. Its older lanes follow the contours of the hill in short, bending lines, and the newer districts spread onto flatter ground in straighter, more regular blocks. The meeting of the two patterns is the most distinctive thing about its plan.
The town is closely tied to Kurdish literary history. The nineteenth-century poet Haji Qadir Koyi, a key figure in modern Kurdish nationalist poetry, took his name from it. Today it is also known as the home of Koya University, whose campus adds a planned cluster of buildings and access roads to the edge of the town's older, organic street pattern.
A Koysinceq map poster shows that shift in scale well. Toward the hill the lines are dense and crowded, then they open out into wider roads that lead across the surrounding plain toward the rest of the region. In black and white, the slope becomes easy to read from the way the streets draw closer together as the ground rises.

University district
Koya University adds a more open, planned section to the map, with larger building footprints and wider roads than the historic hillside core.
Roads onto the plain
Main routes leave the town in long, fairly straight lines across open country, which frames the compact settlement against the empty space around it.

ផែនទីដែលមានអត្ថន័យ
For people from Koya, or anyone who studied at its university, this map records a place defined by its hill: the climb home, the view down over the plain, and the town of a poet whose name is linked to it everywhere. It works as a quiet, personal reminder rather than a souvenir.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example to add the Kurdish name or a graduation year. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The poster is available as a $9 HD download or as a printed poster on matte paper.
