Amod lies in the Bharuch district of southern Gujarat, on the flat plains between the Narmada and Mahi rivers. From above, the old centre is a dense cluster of narrow, irregular lanes, where houses and shops stand close together in the pattern of a long-established Gujarati town. Newer areas extend outward along the main roads in more open blocks.
The countryside around it is flat and cultivated, crossed by village roads, field boundaries and small water bodies. Seen on a map, the plain gives the town a distinct outline. The built-up area sits like a compact island in open land, with only a few roads connecting it to neighbouring villages and larger towns.
