Hechi Map Poster
Hechi is a prefecture-level city in north-western Guangxi, and its urban centre lies in a valley surrounded by karst hills. On the map, the built-up area follows the flat land along the river, stretching out in a long band while the hills press in from both sides. Roads and bridges cross the river at intervals, tying the two banks together.
Around the centre, the karst landscape creates a pattern of isolated peaks and narrow valleys. Roads have to wind between the hills, so the street network thins out quickly beyond the urban core. The wider prefecture is largely rural and mountainous, home to many Zhuang and Yao communities, and includes Bama, a county known across China for the number of its long-lived residents.
