Colonial-era grid
The centre follows a regular grid of straight streets and rectangular blocks. On the poster it forms a compact, orderly pattern in the middle of open country.

지도 소개
Khowa Map Poster & Print
Khowa, formerly known as Elliot, is a town in the northeast of the Eastern Cape, close to the southern end of the Drakensberg range. From above, it is an orderly grid of streets laid out on open ground, a typical plan for a South African country town. Beyond its edges, grassland and farms stretch toward mountains, and roads lead out across the high country.
The town took the name Khowa in the renaming of several Eastern Cape towns in recent years. It serves as a centre for the surrounding farming district and the villages around it. The setting is high and open, with cold winters, and the mountain scenery nearby draws people driving through the region's passes.
A Khowa map poster shows the contrast between the regular grid of the town and the looser, contour-following roads beyond. In black and white, the straight blocks look almost architectural against the wide empty land around them. It is a map of a small town in a large landscape, drawn with clarity.

Newer settlement
Residential areas beyond the original grid follow different, often denser layouts. Seen together, they show how the town has grown outward over time.
Roads to the mountains
Country roads leave town toward farms and mountain passes. They fade out gradually across the paper, suggesting the high landscape surrounding the town.
