It belongs to the gold-mining area around Evander, which developed in the second half of the twentieth century. From above, the town looks deliberately planned. It has curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs, with mine sites and industrial ground set apart nearby.
The landscape around it is flat and wide. Roads run long and straight across farmland between the neighbouring towns of the area.
