From above, this landscape is a mosaic of ridges, valleys, small reservoirs and terraced slopes, and settlements are shaped closely by the terrain.
In towns like Longkong, streets tend to run along valley floors or follow the contour of a slope, and the built area often stretches out along a main road rather than forming a compact block.
