Sendafa sits on the high central plateau of Ethiopia, in the Oromia region, a short drive northeast of Addis Ababa. From above, the town is organised along its main road. Commercial plots line both sides, and residential lanes extend back into the surrounding land in a loose, expanding pattern.
The terrain around the town is open highland, largely given over to farmland, with shallow streams and seasonal watercourses crossing it. Like many towns within reach of the capital, Sendafa has been growing, and the map shows newer blocks laid out at its edges beside older, less regular lanes near the centre.
