지도 소개
Thorold Map Poster & Print
Thorold sits on the Niagara Peninsula between St. Catharines and Welland and calls itself the City Above the Escarpment. Its map is dominated by the Welland Canal, which crosses the city from north to south. The canal carries ships between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, lifting them over the Niagara Escarpment through a series of locks.
The most striking section is the Twin Flight Locks, where paired chambers step up the escarpment side by side, a rare arrangement that appears on the map as a doubled, ladder-like channel. Reservoirs such as Lake Gibson and Lake Moodie, traces of earlier canal alignments and the older downtown streets add further layers.
A Thorold map poster brings industrial waterways, residential grids and the long straight lines of Niagara's highways into one frame. Watching a lake freighter move through the locks is a local pastime. The Thorold Tunnel, which carries a road beneath the canal, is one of the few places where traffic passes under a working shipping route.

Canal through the city
The Welland Canal runs straight through Thorold, dividing it into east and west and giving the map a strong vertical axis that everything else responds to.
Reservoirs and old channels
Lake Gibson, Lake Moodie and fragments of earlier canals appear as irregular water shapes beside the modern channel, showing how water here has been engineered over nearly two centuries.

왜 Thorold인가
의미가 담긴 지도
Thorold is one of the few places where a map shows ships and streets side by side. For residents, canal enthusiasts or anyone who has watched a freighter pass through the flight locks, it is an unusual and personal piece to hang.
Add a title and subtitle, set the coordinates line, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the engineering story well. Download six sizes for $9, or order a matte print from a partner close to you.
