Ancharakandy lies in the Kannur district of northern Kerala, a short distance inland from the Arabian Sea coast. Its map is not built around a single centre. The place is closely associated with a cinnamon estate established here in the late eighteenth century under the East India Company, often described as one of the largest of its kind in Asia.
