From above, the shape is simple and clear: a sheltered bay cut into the coastline, with a river reaching the sea and neighbourhoods spreading back from the shore on low ground.
The name means Bay of the Tomb, and local tradition links it to a burial connected with a shipwreck in the early colonial period. On the map the bay itself dominates.
