This region is shaped by long parallel ridges running northeast to southwest, with lower, rolling land between them. The town sits in this folded landscape, and its streets fill the flatter ground of a valley while the land rises on each side.
Around the town, the hills are covered with terraced fields, small reservoirs and scattered farmhouses. Roads cannot take a direct line here.
