Little Calumet River
The river's meandering course and open floodplain along the northern edge make the only strongly curving feature on a map otherwise dominated by straight lines.

Highland Map Poster & Print
Highland is a town in Lake County, Indiana, part of the Calumet Region southeast of Chicago. Like many towns in the flat country near Lake Michigan, it is laid out mostly on a rectangular grid, with long straight streets, regular residential blocks and commercial strips along the main roads.
The Little Calumet River and its floodplain run along the town's northern side, and their loose curves contrast with the ruler-straight streets to the south. Parks and green spaces interrupt the grid at intervals, and the neighbouring municipalities of Hammond, Munster and Griffith press up against its borders.
A Highland map poster shows the particular geometry of Midwestern suburbs, where every line seems to run north–south or east–west until a river forces a change. The balance of dense blocks and the open riverside strip gives the print a clear top and bottom.

Section-line grid
Streets follow the old survey grid of the Midwest, producing long, parallel avenues and consistent blocks that give the print a calm, orderly texture.
Calumet neighbours
Highland's streets carry straight on into the surrounding towns, so the map reads as one piece of a continuous metropolitan fabric that stretches toward Chicago.

Firwat Highland
Eng Kaart, déi eppes bedeit
Highland is a place of long-held family homes and short commutes into Chicagoland. A map of its streets is a good way to remember a childhood block, a first house or the neighbourhood where two families became one.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with a street name and a move-in year. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir makes the grid especially sharp on a light wall.
