Hōjō is an area on the north-western coast of Ehime Prefecture, on the island of Shikoku. It was a city in its own right until 2005, when it merged into Matsuyama, but it still has its own identity. It faces the Seto Inland Sea, and the islands of that sheltered water are visible from its shore.
