Northern shoreline
The town faces the sea along a gently curving coast. The shoreline is the boldest line on the map and sets the direction of the streets.

Jérémie Map Poster & Print
Jérémie is the capital of Grand'Anse, near the western tip of Haiti's long southern peninsula. The town faces north across the water toward the Gulf of Gonâve. It sits on a narrow strip between the sea and steep, green hills. On the map the coastline shapes everything: streets follow the shore and climb inland only where the land allows.
Haitians know it as the City of Poets, because of the writers and thinkers who came from here. The father of the novelist Alexandre Dumas, General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas, was born in the surrounding region during the colonial era. In 2016 Hurricane Matthew hit the town hard, and many of its old buildings were damaged.
A Jérémie map poster shows a place defined by its edges. The shoreline curves on one side, the streets fill the flat land beside it, and the roads wind up into the hills. In black and white the contrast between sea and town is strong. For anyone from Grand'Anse, it is a recognisable piece of home.

Hillside edges
Behind the centre the land rises into green hills. Roads bend and climb there, and the regular pattern breaks into winding lines.
Compact old centre
The older streets sit close to the water in a tight grid. Here the town is densest and most clearly drawn.
