Milwaukee Avenue slices through on its long diagonal, Golf Road and Touhy Avenue mark east–west axes, and blocks of single-family houses fill the spaces between with the steady repetition typical of postwar suburbs.
On the village's eastern side, the North Branch of the Chicago River winds through a ribbon of forest preserves, giving the map a soft, irregular edge of green against the straight streets.
