The Jamuna channels
East of town, the river splits into braided channels around sandbars. In monochrome these read as loose, overlapping strokes, and they are the most striking and changeable part of the composition.

D'Kaart
Sirajganj sits on the west bank of the Jamuna, the main course of the Brahmaputra through Bangladesh. The river shapes the map more than anything built. To the east, the water breaks into braided channels and shifting sandbars known as chars. The town keeps to the higher ground behind protective embankments, with a compact web of lanes, markets and ghats facing the water.
The river here moves. Erosion has taken whole neighbourhoods in past decades, which is why the riverfront on any current map is lined with spurs, revetments and reinforced banks. A little to the south, the Bangabandhu Bridge crosses the Jamuna and links the western half of the country to Dhaka by road and rail. That bridge makes this district an important crossing point.
Inland, the pattern loosens into villages, ponds and paddy fields, crossed by roads raised above the flood line. The district is also known for handloom weaving, with saris and lungis made in nearby towns. A Sirajganj map poster shows that contrast in black and white: a tight urban core on one side, and on the other a wide, restless river that never draws the same outline twice.
East of town, the river splits into braided channels around sandbars. In monochrome these read as loose, overlapping strokes, and they are the most striking and changeable part of the composition.
Protective embankments and spurs line the riverbank and draw a firm boundary between the dense town and the open water. On the poster they appear as a clean, deliberate line.
Beyond the centre, roads run on raised ground between ponds and fields. They form thin, straight lines that connect scattered village clusters across the floodplain.

Firwat Sirajganj
For people from Sirajganj, this map is a portrait of a home defined by water. It is a reminder of how wide the river is and of the neighbourhoods that stand behind it. It works just as well for those who crossed the bridge to build a life somewhere else.
