Ajaokuta Map Poster & Print
Ajaokuta lies in Kogi State in central Nigeria, on the River Niger downstream of Lokoja, where the Niger and the Benue meet. The town is best known for the Ajaokuta Steel Company, a huge integrated steel complex begun in the late 1970s and intended to anchor the country's heavy industry. On a map, its sprawling rectangular grounds, rail links and access roads form the largest and most distinctive shape in the area.
Next to the industrial site, planned housing areas were laid out for workers, with orderly streets that contrast with the more organic growth of older settlements nearby. The Niger itself is a broad presence beside the town, its channels and sandbanks changing with the seasons. Between river, steelworks and residential districts, the map shows a place shaped by ambitious national planning and by the geography of Nigeria's great river.
The steel project's long and complicated history has made Ajaokuta a familiar name across Nigeria. An Ajaokuta map poster focuses on something quieter: the lines of streets, the curve of the river and the large geometric grounds of industry, all drawn with equal care. It suits engineers who worked on the complex, families from Kogi State and anyone interested in planned towns.

River Niger
The wide river runs beside the town, with channels and sandbanks that give the composition a broad, flowing edge against the planned streets.
Planned housing districts
Residential areas built for the workforce follow regular, orderly layouts that stand apart from the looser growth of older settlements in the surrounding area.
