Ariyallur lies on the Malabar coast of Kerala, in Malappuram district, south of Kozhikode. From above, the landscape is shaped by the sea. A long, nearly straight shoreline runs along the western edge, and behind it lanes and small roads wind through dense stands of coconut palms, houses and gardens.
