Bria Map Poster & Print
Bria is the capital of Haute-Kotto prefecture, in the centre-east of the Central African Republic. It lies on the Kotto river, and from above, the water and the roads are the main structure. Beyond them, the town spreads out loosely into the savanna, with neighbourhoods separated by open ground.
The area around Bria is known for diamond deposits, and artisanal mining has long been an important source of income. This has influenced patterns of settlement and trade. In recent years, the town has also been affected by conflict, and displacement has changed its outline.
A Bria map poster draws a simple and honest picture: the river, the roads that link the town with the rest of the country, and the sparse lanes between them. The empty spaces of the print are part of the landscape, not gaps in the map.

Regional roads
Roads leave Bria towards other towns in the region. They are the clearest lines on the map and show how the town is connected.
Open settlement
Houses and neighbourhoods are spread out, with open savanna between them, so the town's pattern is light and loosely drawn.
