Valley alignment
The town follows the line of its valley, so the streets stretch lengthwise rather than spreading outward. This gives the poster a long, directional composition.

Hanyuan Map Poster & Print
Hanyuan is a town in southern Gansu province, in Longnan, where the land is broken into mountains and deep valleys on the edge of the Qinling range. Settlements here grow wherever the valley floors allow, and the town's shape from above reflects that constraint.
The streets are arranged along a river valley, so the built-up area runs in a long, relatively narrow band. The main road follows the valley, with smaller streets branching off where the ground widens a little. Beyond the edges the slopes rise quickly, and the map shows mostly terraces, farmland and mountain roads.
A Hanyuan map poster presents the town as it sits in this terrain: a tight strip of streets between hills, with the river and road running through its length. In black and white the contrast between the dense town and the quiet surrounding land is clear, which suits the simple, restrained style of these posters.

River and road
A river and the main road run side by side through Hanyuan, forming the two strongest lines on the map and linking the town with the rest of the county.
Mountain surroundings
Steep slopes close in on both sides, so the map shows a clear boundary where streets end and the terrain takes over, leaving wide space around the town.
