The river valley
Water runs along the town's edge, and settlement follows its course, making the river the main line around which the map is organised.

Marolambo Map Poster & Print
Marolambo is a town in the Atsinanana region of eastern Madagascar, set inland in the steep, forested hills between the central highlands and the Indian Ocean coast. On the map, the town is a small cluster of streets along a river valley, surrounded on all sides by rugged, largely undeveloped terrain.
The simplicity of the drawing is its strength. A Marolambo map poster shows a few lanes and paths gathered close to the water, with only faint routes leading away through the hills, conveying how isolated the settlement is compared with Madagascar's coastal towns and highland cities.
The area is known for its difficult access, with travel to and from the town often relying on rough roads, footpaths or river transport, especially during the rainy season. Farming, including rice cultivation in the valleys, supports most of the surrounding communities.

Compact settlement
The town's few streets sit close together, forming a small, clearly defined shape amid a much larger landscape of open space on the print.
Forested hills
Steep, largely roadless terrain surrounds Marolambo, giving the composition a sense of remoteness with long empty stretches in every direction.
