Valley streets
The main streets follow the valley bottoms. They give the town an elongated, branching shape instead of a compact centre.

Nanya Map Poster & Print
Nanya is a town in the northeastern part of Chongqing municipality in central China, a region of steep hills and deep river valleys near the Yangtze. On a map, the landscape decides everything. Streets follow the valley floors and contour lines rather than forming a grid, and the built-up area stretches out wherever the ground allows.
This kind of terrain gives towns in the region an unusual appearance from above. Roads curve back and forth to gain height, and buildings cluster tightly on the limited flat land. The surrounding hillsides are mostly empty of streets. The resulting outline looks organic, almost like a branching root system.
A Nanya map poster suits people who like maps that show the ground as well as the streets. The winding roads and irregular blocks create lively, curving linework. The empty slopes around them give the design space to breathe, which works especially well in the darker Noir style.

Winding roads
Roads leaving the town twist to cope with the steep ground. Their curves are some of the most expressive lines on the map.
Open hillsides
Steep slopes around the settlement remain largely unbuilt. They form broad empty areas that frame the dense street network.
