Lagoa Manguaba
The lagoon fills a large part of the frame, its irregular shoreline giving the print a strong, organic edge that sets it apart from inland town maps.

Pilar Map Poster & Print
Pilar is a town in Alagoas, in northeastern Brazil, a short distance inland from Maceió. It sits on the shore of Lagoa Manguaba, one of the large coastal lagoons that shape this part of the state. On a map the water is the dominant feature, a broad pale surface against which the town's street pattern gathers along the edge.
The layout is simple and readable. Older streets lie close to the waterfront, with the town extending inland over gently rising ground in a looser pattern of blocks. Beyond it the land opens out into agricultural terrain, much of it historically given over to sugarcane, which has long been central to the economy of Alagoas.
A Pilar map poster captures the relationship between a small town and a large body of water. The shoreline gives the composition a natural curve, and the contrast between dense streets and the open lagoon works particularly well in black and white. It is a fitting keepsake for anyone with roots in Pilar or memories of the lagoon.

Waterfront streets
The oldest part of town stays close to the lagoon, where short streets run toward the water and form the densest section of the map.
Rural surroundings
Outside the town, roads and tracks cross open farmland, a reminder of the sugarcane economy that has shaped the landscape around Pilar for centuries.
