Road junction town
Takaba grew where regional routes meet, and on the map these roads cross the plain in long strokes that converge on the settlement like the spokes of a wheel.

Takaba Map Poster & Print
Takaba is a town in Mandera County, in the far north-east of Kenya, not far from the borders with Ethiopia and Somalia. The landscape is arid and flat, with sparse bush and seasonal watercourses. From above, the town is a loose cluster of compounds and tracks around a central area, with very little built land beyond it.
Life here has long been tied to pastoralism, and the roads that meet at Takaba link it to other towns in the county and further across the region. On a map, those routes are the main structure, long lines crossing otherwise empty ground with the settlement gathered where they meet.
A Takaba map poster makes a spare, graphic composition. The streets form a modest pattern at the centre, and the roads and dry channels stretch away into white space. For people from the area, it is a straightforward and respectful picture of home, with the openness of the surrounding land as much a part of it as the town.

Loose street pattern
Instead of a rigid grid, the town has irregular lanes between compounds, giving the centre an informal texture that stands out against the empty land around it.
Open arid plain
Wide, lightly marked ground surrounds the town, and faint seasonal watercourses sometimes cross it. The result is a quiet poster with plenty of negative space.

The map suits people from Mandera County living elsewhere in Kenya or abroad, and anyone who values minimal design. It shows a place most maps overlook, clearly and without decoration.
Add a personal title, a subtitle and the coordinates line, for example a family name or an important date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the dry landscape especially well.
